Carve into a glass using traditional Edo Kiriko techniques
A microcosm wrapped in the palm of your hand
Delicate chrysanthemum joints and small balls carve
The traditional Edo Kiriko pattern "Kikutsugi" is engraved on the beautifully colored glass with the gradation of lapis lazuli and amber, and the gradation of green and amber. Especially for patterns that are thin and have many cuts, high technology is required. Many people like chrysanthemum ties because they reflect light brilliantly and the brilliance unique to Kiriko is beautiful.
It is this glass's "Hosogikutama tie crest" that cuts fine balls between the chrysanthemum ties. Yamada Glass's original design is a small ball design carved with the "polishing" technique that polishes the glass. The pattern of continuous thin lines and small balls represents a "connection" and is said to be auspicious. When exposed to light, the pattern engraved on the other side is reflected in the ball, making it look like a small universe. I want to enjoy the luxury of wrapping the universe with shining stars in the palm of my hand.
Stick to "products you want to use"
A workshop that lasts for three generations
Yamada Glass is an Edo Kiriko workshop that has continued for three generations. From the experience of making many products ordered from major manufacturers, I have acquired high technology that enables cutting into thin glass.
While making works that reach the realm of art by utilizing his skill and original design, the studio is particular about "products that you want to use in real life."
Not only do you love the beauty of the cut, but you can actually add a drink and let it collaborate with the color, the light ice sound, the taste, and the five senses to make you feel its charm.
That is what Yamada Glass is aiming for, "Edo Kiriko in daily life," which adds glamor to everyday life.
I would like you to feel the spirit of the glass with the ties.
