Story 『日本職人仕上げ』“Japanese Craftsman Finishing”

We, "C&L TRASCO", were founded in Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture in 2011.

I have been working with the leather craftsmen I met at the time of our founding for over 10 years. Since then, we have made connections with many craftsmen.

The first product we created under the C&L TRASCO brand was a leather book cover made from Tochigi leather. We currently have seven different sizes, ranging from small paperbacks to large specialized books.

Before starting this job, I had been working as a business person for several decades, and it all started when I created covers for the business books I read on a regular basis.

Nowadays, electronic devices such as smartphones and tablets are used for schedule management and e-books, and more and more people are no longer using paper books or notebooks. However, there are still many people who love books and notebooks.

Therefore, we think about what people who use paper media need and strive to provide them. In particular, many people give book covers as gifts.

What I value is to make the design simple. The reason is that when a book etc. are attached to the book cover, the atmosphere is good, familiar with it, and somehow you want to keep it at hand. And use the given leather without waste as possible.
